Celebrating the New Year with Ice!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!

Wow, it’s already the year 2010. I still remember when we were just celebrating the millennium 2000. I guess we should get going with this new year and make it one of our best years possible!

Speaking of great beginning of the new year, China has just opened the new year with the awesome Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.

” The city of Harbin in China is hosting its 26th annual International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. Massive buildings built of ice from the frozen surface of the nearby Songhua River, large scale snow sculptures, ice slides, festival food and drinks can be found in several parks in the city. At night, visitors who endure the bitter cold will see the lights switched on, illuminating the sculptures from both inside and outside. This year’s festival opened yesterday, January 5th, and will remain open until some time in February. Collected here are several photos from just before the festival, and of the opening night.” (from boston.com)

I wish I were there to see all these in person!

Upcoming Shows in November 09!

As Holidays are near, DistinQue is getting busy with weekend shows!

Last weekend (october 24-25)’s Ventura Artwalk show was more FUN, FUN, FUN than I had remembered it was! With great help from Guy and Michelle (thank you!) and their friends at Stoneworks Studio Gallery, I immensely enjoyed the time with very talented artists and crafters and warm-hearted local customers all day.

We have more great shows coming soon:

November 1 : Get Together Foundation presents “KidsPlay 2009”! This a great benefit concert to support youth sports. A part of the sales will be donated to help kids, well, play! There will be music, food, and lots of goods on sale for early holiday shoppers. This event is held at Football Stadium in Chatsworth Senior High School in Chatsworth, from 10am-4pm.

November 7 : Craft and Folk Art Museum is having “Fair Trade and Eco Gifts”! I already visited their shop. It is the best shop in LA as LA weekly described. So many unique items can be found here. This is a small and acquainted event. There will be also sampling Bana Tea!  The address is 5814 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036. This event will be held between 10am – 4pm.

November 14/15 : TBA

November 21 : Agua Dulce Women’s Club is holding “Holiday Gift Bonanza”! This would be all about gifts for anyone everyone including yourself! (and, of course, there will be foods as well. 😉 ) The address for this event is 33201 Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Agua Dulce, CA 91390. It’ll be held from 9am – 3pm. This will be a blast!

November 22 : Temple BethHillel presents “Chanukah Boutique” this year again! This is our first time there, but I’m sure this will be another fun event. This will be the best time to shop right before the big holiday. The event will be held at 12326 Riverside Drive, Valley Village, CA 91607.

If you’re in southern California and around the cities we’ll be in, please come on by and join us for fun. It’s wonderful to meet customers in person (not to mention the great discounts for weekend shows only)!
