Who’s Genie?

founder-avatar-2008.jpg Tada~

My name is Genie, the owner of DistinQue Co.. I guess I should say “owner” to introduce myself here. I try not to use that term. I’m rather an artist who create arts in any form; jewelry, clothes, music, literature, fashion, life, etc.

I live in Tinsel Town, Los Angeles. I’m in my 30’s, and I’m a designer, musician, poet, screenwriter, playwright, novelist, listener, and laugher. I’m also a learner. I learn from anything everything I see or hear. The most important thing I’m learning these days is to respect people. The older I get, the more I get fascinated by people. A teenager standing next to me at a bus stop has a story to tell just like me. An old man sitting in front of a hamburger store has an amazing life story just like me.

I’m also learning more and more that the world is so big and at the same time so small. It felt so big when I knocked on a “business” door. It seemed so small when someone from the land I never heard of contacted me to share what he had and I needed.

My inspiration is designs by other crafters (of course) and mostly nature. I love trees, flowers, leaves, etc. I love their unique colors and forms that cannot be found anywhere else. Anything in the nature, even a little tiny thing, is unique. There’s no two of a kind. I also love abstract figures. You can see that in my jewelry in wire ones.

I love TV (except reality shows), movies (except horror movies), fiction books, comic books, fashion magazines, wooden furniture, good food, and anything GREEN (well, brown too). I love simple things. Simple designs always get me. Simple but a little different. Simple but unique. Simple but standing out. I enjoy traveling. I wish I have more time, so I can just travel the world every day. Well, that’s one of my dreams.

Everyone has at least one dream. I believe we should just go out there and do it. I cannot do everything I want to do, but still there are so many things I want to try. So many I want to love yet I haven’t found.

I’ll let you know when I do on the way…
